We've all heard the saying 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure' and this holds especially true for dental care. Preventative dental care will not only help you avoid disease and illness, it will also save you money in the end. Regularly scheduled cleanings are much more affordable than procedures like dental implants or root canals. Most of the problems that we see in our office are a result of poor oral hygiene. Failing to brush and floss regularly and missing your regularly scheduled cleanings are a quick ticket to bigger problems down the road. Early DetectionWith regular preventative care, our dentists will be able to recognize potential problems and detect them early. When dental problems are detected early, they can usually be treated quickly and in a minimally invasive manner. Early visits can help us detect conditions like periodontal disease. A gum disease that can lead to numerous problems in the mouth. Periodontal disease is an infection of the guns that when left untreated can lead to the deterioration of the soft tissue and bone. This often results in tooth loss. In addition to twice a year visits with our friendly staff, your at home oral care is important as well! Brush your teeth twice a day and floss as well. This keeps the plaque and bacteria from eating away at the enamel of your teeth. If you're having trouble remembering to brush and floss, our staff has a variety of different tricks to help you start a new habit. Try setting an alarm on your phone to remind yourself before you go to bed to take a few minutes and floss and brush. We are looking forward to helping you prevent any future issues. Give us a call today and we'll be on the path to helping you keep your smile bright and healthy. |
